The staff were very friendly and attentive and it offered a perfect location to relax. We found the food to be excellent and I would recommend trying the Meze platter and the fried calamari. Overall for two of us we had a bottle of sparkling, 8 cocktails and food to make up the minimum spend which really wasn't expensive in comparison to other beach clubs. It was a wonderful place to watch the sun go down and a highlight was the Bali choir who played as the sun was setting. However the staff is unfriendly and the rules of the beds are not clear. I wanted to get 2 beds but the the staff told me that all was occupied even though I stayed in the place for hours and the beds were still free. Also they offered me beds without an umbrella, that’s kinda weird for such a high end place to have beds and not to provide an umbrella. Each comes with a minimum spend price tag; all of which are very high for a solo, alcohol free traveller. I’ve found most venues have increased minimum spend amount a lot! This really only works for people looking to get drunk. Still I prepaid for a cabana knowing I’d never reach my minimum spend limit, but I didn’t think I’d miss it by IDR 1M! That’s because the food was atrocious. I firstly ordered 1/2 dozen natural oysters. They were not fresh, tasty rubbery and chewy and I sent back 5 after eating only one. I then tried the fish and chips and grilled romana salad thinking this would be difficult to get wrong. I was so very wrong. The fish and chips were dry and cold and felt a day old. It was like a terrible pub fish and chips. The batter was too thick. The fish was brown meat and there was no seasoning on the chips at all, or any offered. The grilled romana salad wasn’t grilled, it was burnt. So instead of sweet caramelised leaves, they were burnt. The salad came with some potato mash balls. These were straight from the fridge and I mean they had just been pulled from the fridge they were so cold. I sent these dishes back too. Staff were very apologetic and wanted to offer something else, but after three failed dishes, I lost my appetite. I was disappointed that the venue then decided to on-sell my cabana for a second sitting at 4pm it wasn’t booked online because I checked at 4pm. Particularly given how low my spend was and how much credit remained. They did offer an alternative sitting area but after a very disappointing afternoon, I simply wanted to cut my losses and go. I won’t be back until they shake up the kitchen and bring in a new chef and menu. It is on the beach but the beach is not directly assessible from the club. The swimming pool is of good size and they have a huge area for shower/changing room. It does not have the same fun vibes as other beach clubs like Finn’s/potato head and the food is terrible. Everything is very disorganised and there is a long wait for food and drinks. A lot of families were there which made it quite loud and not enjoyable. Staff are a lot more organised and professional at the other beach clubs. Café del mar Bali operates based on Corporate standards and operating procedures and regret that there has been some mis-implementation. There is a dynamic maintenance program for the venue and regret if some areas have not been completed yet. As for the music, we have a daily line up of DJ from 4pm till closing time based on its music genre. Other reviews have mentioned good comment on the food and regret if you find it terrible. Our waitress was very patient even though it was almost closing time. She also gave us recommendations based on our preferences. Price was expensive for us who are traveling on a budget. Ordered alad, pasta, sandwich, chicken, and a few mocktails. Food was ok. But budget-friendly ayam betutu would’ve been better, were happy to take home wefies with pretty great views. Kudos to the waiter who took our pictures even though they were closing, and to Nadya who served us! I recommend visiting late at night on weekdays for less crowd. It is a place people go to photograph themselves and pretend to have fun. The Instagram generation. The atmosphere is flat, the play list is average. The waiting staff are nice but clueless, not even knowing what Rose wine is. The food was mixed, one made me ill, one was was hrs late and the rest was okay. Quite simply, if it wasn't so bad it is almost funny, this could be the the worst day I have spent anywhere. Unless you are a young Asian teenager who wants to snap themselves, avoid like the plague.
